Abu'l-Fath al-Busti (d. 1009)

Abu'l-Fath al-Busti was a Persian writer and poet. He is also known for his Arabic verse and prose. He was also secretary to Sultan Mahmud. It is interesting to note that he was abducted by the father of Sultan Mahmud.

  • Fate mocks at wishes.
  • If you yield to your anger, you only cease to be civil.
  • A man's increase in worldly wealth does oft-times loss betide,
And all his pains, save virtue's gains, but swell the debit side.
